Check hard drives for errors
Go to Start
My computer right -click the icon for your C drive
and choose Properties.
Then choose the Tools tab
click Check Now button.
Repeat this step for your other hard drives.
Applications and files must be closed in order for error checking to fix the problems.
Clean out uneeded files
Go to Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Disk Cleanup
Select the drive to clean
More Options tab offers more cleanup choices.
The System Restore cleanup optin clears disk space by erasing old restore points.
Defragment hard drives
Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tools
Disk Defragmeter
Highlight the drive you want to check
Press the Analyze button
Click the Defragment button.
